What happens on my first visit?

Dr. Stevens and Hanah Ta believe in personal doctors-patient relations. This mean that we will take whatever time is needed to learn about your needs. During your first appointment we will discuss your medical history as it relates to dental care. After evaluating your teeth, gums, and jaw joints, we’ll take the necessary x-rays. We will then “tour” your mouth with our intra-oral video camera that allows you to see on the computer the close-up condition of your teeth and gums. Base on the specific information we have, we then recommend a treatment plan for optimal oral health that includes procedures, options, and fees. Your complete understanding and agreement with this plan will be necessary before any treatment begins. This visit will take about 45min to 1 hour, so please inform us if you have other plan following the visit.

Why do I need X-rays?

A visual exam reveals is only about 20 % of what is really happening in the areas of potential infection, cavities, bone loss, etc… An X-rays provides a clear picture for us to accurately provide the necessary treatment. We use Digital x-rays which reduce almost 80% radiation.


Will I be charged if I miss an appointment?

Appointment time is reserved just for you. Missed appointments or last minute cancellations leave us with insufficient notice to offer that time to a patient who has been waiting to see us. If you find it necessary to change an appointment, it is important that our office receive at least 48 hours notice. Habitual broken appointments may result in a charge for the time reserved.

Do you accept my insurance?

We do accept most insurance plans, and are well-versed in the latest coverage-trends and we are more than happy to discuss the particulars of your plan with you prior to any treatments you may undergo.

What different payment options do you provide?

Because finances are important to every patients, we discuss fees, insurance and financial arrangements at our first meeting before beginning treatments.To make payment more convenient, we accept all major credit cards and personal checks. We also are pleased to offer Care Credit with no interest up to 12 months to make payment arrangements according to what fits your budget. If you have large treatment plan and wish to make monthly payments, we do offer a payment plan. Our financial coordinator will be happy to discuss the details with you.

How do I know what procedures I really need?

We perform a video examination with an Intraoral Camera. You can actually see what is happening in your mouth. State-of-the-art technology now makes it possible for the doctor and patient to better view and fully appreciate the conditions in the patient’s mouth.

I want my front teeth to look better, but I do not want to wear braces. What would you recommend?

You have many options to improve your smile. For slightly cooked or unevenly worn teeth, a bit of reshaping and the addition of porcelain veneers may be sufficient to give them a bright, uniform look. In other cases, we can use the Invisalign technique to straight your teeth. We’d be happy to talk with you further about the option that best suits your individual situation.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?

Bleeding gums are definitely something to be concerned about. Healthy gums should not bleed. Bleeding gums can be an indication of disease and you need to make an appointment to look into this issue more thoroughly right away. Not only can gum disease cause bad breath along with bleeding and receding gums, but it can also lead to the loss of otherwise healthy teeth

I brush everyday, but my breath just is not fresh. Is there anything I can do? How can I safely whiten my teeth?

Yes, we use the Breath Rx system, a non-alcohol based mouthwash. It’s important, however, to understand the source of the breath problem, whether it is simply foods you’ve eaten; a stomach or digestive system issue; or even more importantly, tooth decay or fillings needing to be replaced. We’ll need to assess the source of the odor to really help you with this frustrating problem. Make an appointment now.

What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

We have a state-of-the-art sterilization center and even have a third-party sterilization specialist perform monthly audits to make sure all sterilization equipment functions correctly for your maximum safety. We are also among only a small number of practices in the nation using a special water bottle sterilization system to make sure bacteria is completely eliminated from our dental equipment. Your safety is of utmost importance to us and we not only comply with but we exceed universal precautions.

How does Dr. Stevens and Dr. Hanah Ta keep up to date on all the current techniques and materials?

Dr. Stevens and Dr. Hanah Ta subscribe to the latest industry journals to keep on research and development in the dental industry. They also take time on a regular basic for continuing education, and ensures their staff do the same.

I really don’t like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

First of all, our friendly, home-like setting will immediately put you at ease. Our caring and attentive staff will address your specific concerns. Some of our comfort technique include nitrous sedation, topical anesthetic, blankets, pillows.
